CLIMATE | 28°–26°C. Turmeric likes a warm, bright place with diffused light. The most suitable place will be near a window where the plant can receive morning or evening sun. Avoid placing in direct midday sunlight, as it can burn the plant's leaves and flowers.
WATERING | The soil should be slightly moist, but not wet. Water when the top layer of soil is dry. Do not allow water to accumulate in the pot. Turmeric likes high humidity, so the leaves can be lightly sprayed with water.
FERTILIZATION | During the active growing season (spring-summer), fertilize 1-2 times a month with a fertilizer for houseplants or flowering plants. Stop fertilizing in winter.
SOIL | Well-drained, fertile, and easily moisture-retaining soil. You can use universal houseplant soil, preferably with a small amount of perlite or expanded clay to keep the roots from getting soggy.
NOTES | Turmeric may gradually lose its leaves after flowering and enter a dormant period. This is not the death of the plant, but a natural process. During this time, reduce watering and keep the plant in a warm place until it starts to send out new shoots.
The flowering period lasts 4-8 weeks.
The origin of ornamental turmeric can be traced to the tropical regions of Southeast Asia.
It is not recommended to eat the root of this plant.
